The context
The health sector in the Karamoja region faces significant challenges, lagging far behind the rest of Uganda.
The project
To achieve improved access to quality and affordable health care and sanitation services for women and children of Napak district, the project has three strategies.

Capacity Building
Strengthen the human resource capacity for health in order to provide high-quality maternal and child health care services in the whole district of Napak.
Provide quality comprehensive emergency obstetrics and newborn care
Improve the accessibility of these services and expand them to the poorest and most vulnerable of the district.
Improve hygiene and sanitation conditions for women and children
A comprehensive strategy also focuses on preventive measures such as improving hygiene and sanitation, particularly among vulnerable groups (women and children).
Beneficiaries
Training for 1,251 health staff and Village Health Team workers
Treatment for 12,600 children in hard-to-reach areas
Treatment for 12,460 mothers
Care for 1,200 newborns
Sanitary pads for 3,240 schoolgirls
Training on toilet construction for 140 households
